Lachen & Lachung

Lachen and Lachung are two picturesque villages in North Sikkim, each offering unique experiences and stunning landscapes:

Lachen

  • Location: Situated at an altitude of about 2,750 meters (9,022 feet), Lachen is known for its serene beauty and is a gateway to some of the most scenic treks in Sikkim.

  • Key Attractions:

    • Gurudongmar Lake: A sacred lake considered holy by both Hindus and Sikhs.

    • Seven Sister Waterfalls: A beautiful waterfall along the way to Lachen.

    • Lachen Monastery: A peaceful monastery offering a glimpse into local culture and spirituality.

    • Chopta Valley: Known for its vibrant rhododendron blooms during spring.

  • Activities: Trekking, bird watching, and exploring the local culture.

Lachung

  • Location: Located at an altitude of about 2,600 meters (8,530 feet), Lachung is famous for its lush greenery and snow-covered landscapes during winter.

  • Key Attractions:

    • Yumthang Valley: Often referred to as the "Valley of Flowers," it's home to a variety of Himalayan flowers.

    • Hot Springs: Natural hot springs believed to have medicinal properties.

    • Seven Sisters Waterfalls: Another beautiful waterfall near Lachung.

    • Zero Point (Yumesamdong): The last Indian village before the Tibet border, offering breathtaking views.

  • Activities: Nature walks, photography, and enjoying the tranquil environment.

Both Lachen and Lachung offer a peaceful retreat with plenty of opportunities to connect with nature and experience the local culture.

Day-1

Pick-up from Airport or Railway Station. Drop at Hotel at Gangtok. Enjoy the evening at MG Road and Lal Bazar.

Day-2

Morning drive to Lachen in North Sikkim (Alt 9175Ft / 2750M). On the way visit Singhik, Seven Sister Waterfalls,

Chungthang Confluence. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way (at own cost). Check in at local Guest house or hotel. Free evening and Overnight at Lachen.

Day-3

Early morning drive to Thangu Village, a remote high altitude village of Tibetan Nomads and also proceed further to Chopta Valley to get some breath-taking view of alpine valley of frozen rivers.

From Chopta Valley drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Gurudongmar Lake close to Tibet Border, one of the Highest and biggest freshwater lakes in Sikkim. Back to Lachen for Lunch.

Thangu Valley or Thangu-Chopta Valley is a town and municipality located in Sikkim, India. LACHEN TO LACHUNG, 50 KMS IN 2.5HRS – Check out from Lachen and drive further to Lachung (Alt 8075Ft / 2425M) via Chungthang. En-route visit Chungthang Confluence and Vimnala Water Falls. Check-in at hotel. Free evening Overnight at Lachung.

Day-6

Early morning drive to Yumthang Valley, an Alpine flower valley in North Sikkim. Enjoy the scenic landscape and Hot spring and drive back to Lachung for Lunch.

Free evening to roam around the village and river valley.

Overnight at Lachung Optional Yumesamdong Valley for Indian tourists only

– From Yumthang Valley you can drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Yumesamdong or Zero Point close to Tibet Border (At an extra cost), and back to Lachung. The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a nature sanctuary with river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India.

Check out from Lachung and drive back to Gangtok (Alt 5550Ft / 1675M) via Chungthang. Check in at hotel by late afternoon. Free evening Overnight at Gangtok.

Check out from Gangtok hotel and drive back to Airport/Railway station. Farewell and tour ends
